When are you doing Kitty Yoga again?

The Kitty Yoga classes are managed and hosted by the fine ladies of Pawsitive Stretch.

As soon as another Kitty Yoga event is scheduled you will be able to find the information on our website, but in the meantime you can join the waiting list to be notified as soon as another class is available!

So what is Black Cat Beanery, exactly?

We are a cat cafe - which means we are a place you can unwind with a nice hot coffee, maybe a little treat, and spend time with our resident cats!   All of our cats are available for adoption, and our mission is to find homes for as many rescued kitties as possible.

Can I bring my own cat?

Unfortunately, no.  For health and safety reasons, we cannot allow any outside cats into the facility.  We love cats too, but please leave yours at home.  The same goes for dogs, or any other furry or feathered friends you have at home.

I have a cat that needs a home - can you take it?

We can not, under any circumstances.

We are not a rescue, and do not have the facilities needed to do intake; also, we are explicitly forbidden by Orion Township from doing so.

Please contact your nearest animal rescue if you need to re-home a pet.  Here is a directory of available rescue organizations.

All cats living at Black Cat Beanery are provided by approved rescue partners.

What are my beverage options?

Of course, the coffee takes center stage.  Your personalized coffee starts when you grab a K-Cup of our exclusive Black Cat Beanery coffee and load up our commercial-grade Keurig brewer.  Select your preferred temperature and strength, and when your cup o' Joe is ready, you can slide down the counter and add complimentary flavor or creamer selections!

Not feeling like coffee today? No problem.  We will also have a cooler stocked with soda, juices, and other chilled choices that you can enjoy instead.

Why can't I find a menu?

At the present time, we are not licensed to serve food by the county, on account of the cats living on-site.  We are hoping we can become a full-service coffee shop in the future, but for now our visitors must serve themselves.

All guests who purchase a Black Cat Pass will be invited to make themselves a gourmet, personalized coffee (or a bottled cold beverage), and grab a baked treat - on select days we will have fresh baked treats from Black Cat Bakehouse!  Both the beverages and baked items will be available for purchase separately, as well.

Are there age restrictions on visitors?

In the interest of not creating a stressful situation for our resident cats, we require that all visitors be no younger than five years of age.

Any visitors under 16 years of age must be accompanied by a parent or guardian, who will be responsible for their behavior.

What are the rules in the Cat Room?

For the comfort and safety of our kitties, we ask that you observe the following rules during your visit :

  • No more than two visitors may enter the cat room at any time.  The exit of the vestibule must be closed before any additional visitors may enter the vestibule.

  • All visitors must remove their shoes in the vestibule, or put on the provided shoe covers.  This is to ensure the cleanliness of the cat room and reduce disease spread.

  • Please be considerate of the cats and other visitors when in the Cat Room.  Keep your conversations to a reasonable volume and do not play music or video on your phone.

  • Do not touch or otherwise disturb sleeping cats.  This is their home.

  • Do not interrupt cats that are eating, drinking water, or using litter boxes.

  • Please be gentle and kind in petting or handling the cats.  If our staff considers your handing to be too rough or aggressive, you will be kindly informed.

  • Please do not feed the cats any "people food", and check in with us before giving any treats - some of our kitties have important dietary restrictions.

  • Do not open any enclosures or cages. If you want to see a cat in an enclosure, please notify our staff and they will be happy to assist you.

I want to adopt one of the cats.  What do I do?

That's great news!

Just inform any of our staff and they will guide you to an application and walk you through the process.
